Lounais-Hameen Pirtti was built in the scenic Saari National Park area of Tammela. Construction began in autumn 1946 based on plans by architect V. Kyander, and Pirtti was inaugurated in 1948.
Pirtti represents two basic traditional forms of Tammela farmhouse buildings. The first part follows the so-called smoke-cabin style, combined into a flat-roofed structure that was heated from outside. It is supported by traditional beam logs. This section also includes a traditional fireplace. In old style, the log wall has also been covered with a wooden lattice paneling.
Wooden sculptures of St. Olav of Urjala, Archangel Michael of Tammela, and St. James of Somero are attached to the wall.
The furniture and textiles represent 19th-century Tammela farmhouse interior style. On the front wall of the dining hall, there is a board displaying the personal marks of people who donated logs for constructing the building.
